FOODBANK

HELPING ANIMAL RESCUE AND COMMUNITY GROUPS

What started off ten years ago as boot load of pet food to help a local shelter has now grown to a major community service for the animal welfare community, helping animal shelters from Invercargill to the Bay of Islands and everywhere in-between.

The food bank quickly escalated and became very busy with the Christchurch earthquakes, Paw Justice sent a whopping 76 tonnes of pet food to the city. We have helped thousands of animals in need by providing pet food to charities, organisations and individuals.  Our co-ordinator distributor through networks in Lyttleton and New Brighton, supply’s pet food to elderly residents living on their own and foster carers taking in homeless animals. It’s amazing to see New Zealander’s coming together to help one another and their pets

communities at harm

We also work with local foodbanks and the Auckland NZ police to help families in hardship. When money is tight, some owners – who love their pets dearly – are forced by financial circumstances beyond their control to place their beloved pet in a shelter.

Paw Justice receives many requests for help when people end up in this situation.  Fortunately, we have been able to help some owners through the Paw Justice Foodbank.

While these places are a necessary last resort for our furry friends, we believe it’s more important to keep families together. This means helping families in need and helping them take care of their pet.

Unsung heroes giving animals a second chance

In the course of our journey, we have discovered that there are numerous people in New Zealand who have taken one of our friends under their wing out of the goodness of their hearts. These generous individuals have opened their hearts, lives and wallets to give these animals a second chance at life.

These selfless souls are the unsung heroes of animal rescue and of the go unnoticed. At Paw Justice, we strive to support these caring folks by rewarding their kindness and providing a helping hand through food-sharing and much-needed resources from the Paw Justice Food Bank.

Helping more than 71 rescue groups

The Paw Justice Food Bank also shares its food supplies with more than 71 rescue groups, animal shelters and individual rescuers when needed. These include Dogwatch, lonely Miaow, Mastiff Rescue Group, Auckland Puppy Rescue, HURRAH and individual branches of the SPCA just to name a few.
